A dental crown (sometimes called a "cap") completely covers a damaged tooth, restoring its shape, size, strength and appearance. Crowns are one of the most versatile restorations in modern dentistry — and one of Dr. Kennedy's most refined skills.
At Turnagain Dental, every crown is designed with the same attention to detail used in our largest cosmetic cases. Color, translucency, contour and bite are all calibrated so the finished restoration disappears seamlessly into your smile.
When a Crown Is the Right Choice
- Protecting a tooth weakened by a large filling or fracture
- Restoring a tooth after root canal therapy
- Covering a worn, chipped or severely discolored tooth
- Topping a dental implant
- Anchoring a dental bridge
- Improving the shape, length or color of a single front tooth
Materials We Use
All-Porcelain & Lithium Disilicate (e.max)
Highly esthetic, ideal for front teeth and visible smile-line restorations. These crowns mimic the natural translucency of enamel.
Zirconia
Exceptionally strong — perfect for molars and patients with heavy bite forces. Layered zirconia can also be used in esthetic zones.
Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal
A time-tested option that balances strength with a tooth-colored appearance, often used on back teeth or as part of larger restorative plans.
The Process
Most crowns are completed in two visits. At the first appointment, the tooth is gently prepared and a precise digital or physical impression is taken. You'll wear a comfortable temporary while your custom crown is fabricated. At the second visit, Dr. Kennedy bonds the final crown and refines the bite for lasting comfort.
How Long Will My Crown Last?
Well-made crowns routinely last 15 years or more — many last decades. Daily brushing, flossing and regular hygiene visits keep the surrounding tooth and gum healthy, which is the real key to a crown's longevity.
